Best Home Cervical Traction Device
Cervical traction is a light stretching action meant to relieve pressure on compressed vertebrae, while also maintaining the health and placement of spinal discs.
When using cervical traction devices and systems, a head brace is affixed to the patient’s head and neck. Then, using a counterweight attached to a mechanical ramp or pulley system, the head is stretched away from the shoulders, relieving disc compression and spinal pain.
Cervical traction devices are created to mimic the kind of neck traction care you’d receive from a physical therapist, and with the right application, these devices can be simple and effective tools for at-home spinal treatment.
Neck pain is a debilitating condition that lowers the productivity of people. If you are used analgesics and a plethora of other different remedies with poor results, buy one of our recommended neck traction devices. They are perfect for men and women. Their well-engineered designs, on the other hand, work well in different orientations (including when sleeping). We have reviewed their features herein to help you to choose the best.
Specifically, neck traction seeks to pull the head away from the body to stretch the neck muscles and to distract the spaces of spinal bones. This action will release tension, thus eliminating pain.
Cervical traction involves the use of a device that will attempt to pull your spine upwards to create spaces between your cervical discs. This is also known as disc distraction. Therapy using this method can correct the alignment of the spine, thus restoring proper posture and releasing tension in the spinal column.
Traction can also stretch the muscles. The flexion of muscles releases built-up tension around the nerves, thus mitigating another source of pain.
Although more studies and research are needed, there is clinical evidence that clearly shows the efficacy of cervical traction in eliminating painful episodes of the neck. This is especially true for mild cases of neck pain and injuries. For more serious cases, prolonged cervical traction therapy and additional orthopedic intervention may be needed to achieve complete treatment.
Indeed, the healing benefits of cervical traction can solve many cases of neck pains. It can be used as an active therapeutic method or as a regular muscle and bone structure exercise to maintain the optimum condition of the spinal column.
A type of neck braces that straightens your neck and relieves the pressure of your head on your cervical area; it helps re-hydrate, as well as realign your discs, but also relaxes your nerve muscles and alleviates compression from blood vessels and pinched nerves; their portability and simplicity makes them a convenient option; they don’t require installation and can also be used during travel or at work
Over-The-Door Home Cervical Traction Device
An over-the-door traction device will need to be installed — most often on a door, which must be closed after the installation. Usually, the assembly and installation is not that difficult so the product can be quickly removed. A chin strap holds the user's head, and a pulley system gently lifts the head upward to relieve pressure on the cervical vertebrae. Over-the-door traction devices are mostly designed to be used when sitting or standing, but some models require you to lie down for treatments.
How to Choose the Best Neck Traction Devices
Ease of Use: Avoid the complex traction devices that frustrate people over time. To soothe neck pain on demand and in any setting, look for a product that you can use easily. Its set up should be a breeze. A light and portable traction device will also serve you well on the road.
Safety: Products with a tendency of bruising and worsening the condition of people over time are not worth buying. Check the reputation of your product of choice before reaching for your pocket. Will you enjoy using it? Does it deliver lasting results safely? Never compromise safety.
Performance: The best neck traction devices soothe neck pain. They also decompress herniated disk and soothe muscle stress without irritating people. If the product you are planning to buy does not meet this threshold, look for another one.
Similarly, you should avoid cervical traction if you have a bone infection, a tumor in the neck area, screws in your neck or rheumatoid arthritis. Always consult with your physician before trying out any new type of treatment or therapy

What is Cervical Traction and How Does it Work?
As a general medical procedure, traction seeks to employ two opposing forces applied to different parts of the body. The aim is to relieve tension and correct alignment of nerves, muscles, and bones.Specifically, neck traction seeks to pull the head away from the body to stretch the neck muscles and to distract the spaces of spinal bones. - This cervical traction collar has been a godsend. I've had neck problems for many years. Physical therapy helped minimally and if you stop using the exercises, It all comes back. The exercises are quit rigorous - repeat every hour! I've used this collar for about 15 min. 2-3 times a day. It's kind of relaxing to use. I sit in a supportive chair and wear the collar while I am reading, watching TV, or just relaxing. Very easy to wear. Reasonable price.
- Love this product. It's inexpensive, very easy to use, well made and has helped my neck pain immensely. I have had neck pain since my early 20s and I am now 71. I was born with 2 fused vertebrae in my neck and over the years I have developed arthritis in my neck not full mobility. This product has made a world of difference. I use it once per day for 10 minutes, that's it. I highly recommend!
POSTURE PUMP Neck Pain Relief Cervical DISC HYDRATOR (Model 1100-S)
POSTURE PUMP neck & back DISC HYDRATORS gently decompress, shape, and hydrate the discs in your neck & back. When the neck & back lose their natural curved shape, the soft discs that are in between the vertebrae become compressed, & rich lubricating fluid is unable to penetrate & hydrate the discs. This causes premature aging in the form of stiff, dry joints. POSTURE PUMP counteracts that by lifting, stretching, decompressing, hydrating, & shaping the neck & back into its “vital” natural curved shape.

- This has helped me SO much! I'm a preschool teacher, so I'm leaning down ALL day long. I also have the beginnings of a "reverse curve," my neck is straighter than it should be. This is so relaxing to use, and helps greatly with my neck pain. I used a lot less pumps when first starting and worked my way up as my neck became more comfortable and loose. I tried to use it once a day, but ideally I'd like to use it twice. I literally get a flood of cooling relief in my neck when I use this, which I'm assuming are my discs rehydrating. I can't afford to see a chiropractor every month, so this was definitely worth the price!
- I was having so many issues with my neck. I had a reappearing knot on one side and I would get headaches that ran from neck, up over my head and behind one of my eyes. And my neck always hurt when lying down. I would wake several times during the night just to find a position that would lessen the discomfort. I was miserable! After trying many different pillows and months of neck traction in physical therapy (which did make things somewhat better) I decided to purchase this item based on the reviews. I have to say that I got immediate relief after the first use! I slept through the night with no neck issues that night. Since then, I use it every night before bed and I sleep great! I am happy to report that have not had one of my headaches in three weeks as well! I would recommend this to anyone with neck issues.

- This device was prescribed by my Maximized Living chiropractor and I cannot live without it. Along with getting adjustments regularly, this is a MUST for people with scoliosis or just general back pain. Some people rest their forehead on the bar, but I find it more effective if I put it under my chin and lean my head back slightly. I do 25 reps (3 seconds each) in the morning, 25 in the evening, and 25 right before an adjustment. In addition, I'd also recommend a wobble cushion to those experiencing back pain while sitting, especially at work.
- My chiropractor had me use one of these years ago for a pinched nerve in my neck, it really helped. I am having this issue again, and felt buying one of these is considerably less expensive than the Chiropractor. Works like a charm. Great investment.
